How Georgia Home Contractors Works

You describe the project once. We send it to up to 3 contractors who have claimed their listing and who serve that kind of work near you. You decide whether to hire any of them.

For homeowners

  • Choose the kind of work, enter your ZIP code, and describe the project. An AI assistant can help you write or estimate it, but you do not have to use it, and you can edit anything it suggests.
  • Add timing. Your contact details come last, and a street address is optional. Photos cannot be attached yet.
  • Your request goes to no more than 3 contractors. Only contractors who have claimed their listing can receive it. We never send it to an unclaimed listing, because nobody would be there to read it.
  • If no claimed contractor covers that kind of work near your ZIP code yet, the request form tells you so before you send it. A request that matches nobody is saved but sent to no one, and it is not sent automatically later.
  • Marking a job as urgent sends it only to contractors whose listing says they take emergency calls. It does not guarantee a response time.
  • Cost ranges on this site say where they come from. National ranges are national. They are not measured Georgia prices.

Where we can match you

The directory lists businesses across Georgia and a few just over the state line. Requests can only be matched where a contractor has claimed a listing for that trade and area, so coverage is uneven while listings are being claimed.

For contractors

  • Claim your listing to correct it and to start receiving project requests.
  • You see the price of a request before you accept it, and accepting charges that price.
  • Each request goes to no more than 3 contractors.
  • A request is refundable if the phone number and email address both fail to reach the person, if it duplicates one you already bought, or if it is fraudulent. Ask within 7 days of accepting it. The full terms are on the terms page.
  • Memberships and featured placement are optional. Placement you pay for is labelled sponsored.

Checking a contractor before you hire

  • Look up the licence in the Georgia Secretary of State licensee search: https://goals.sos.ga.gov/GASOSOneStop/s/licensee-search. Water-well and pump contractors are listed by Georgia EPD instead: https://epd.georgia.gov/water-well-standards-act-contractors.
  • Ask for a current certificate of insurance.
  • Get the scope and the price in writing, and tie payments to finished stages of work.
